Water Tanks Wallaroo
Wallaroo is a port town situated on the western side of Yorke Peninsula, about 160 km from Adelaide. It is one of three towns on the boundary of the area known as the Copper Triangle, named as such because copper was mined here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The other two towns are Kadina and Moonta. The remains of the copper mines can still be seen, which is why the area, called the Copper Coast, is popular with tourists. Nowadays, grain production is the major local industry.
Around 4,000 people live in Wallaroo. The pier and jetty are always popular, there is a Heritage and Nautical Museum, and people living in and visiting Wallaroo enjoy fishing, crabbing, sailing and beautiful safe beaches which benefit from refreshing light breezes from the sea.
With moderate to low rainfall, water is precious in Wallaroo. A water tank provides a way of capturing every drop of precious rainwater to reuse for domestic supply, for stock or irrigation, fire water storage and as an extra supply if needed in an emergency.
